Camp Taloha - Pine Bluff, Arkansas

This 60 acre Girl Scout Camp is located west of Pine Bluff.  It rents for $400 per weekend from the Diamond Council of the Girl Scouts, based in Little Rock.

The site features a feast hall that seats 99 with a kitchen.  The feast hall space is roughly 95x35 feet (will check to make sure of those dimensions).

The kitchen includes a Viking-style stove with two oven berths, six burners and a griddle top.  There is also a small microwave, oversized consumer refrigerator, three section sink, two section sink and handwashing sink.  A door from the kitchen leads to a small parking area (will work well for grills).

There is a men's room (urinal and toilet) and women's room (two toilets) in the main hall.

Just south of the main hall stands a unisex showerhouse with four toilets and four showers.

Southwest of the main hall in a wooded area stand seven screen cabins with 3-5 cots each, a ceiling fan and light fixture.  Sidewalls can be rolled down to protect against the elements.

South of the showerhouse, there's an outdoor pavilion with picnic tables and electricity.

South of the pavilion, there is a wooded grove (labeled "archery range") that works well as a tourney field site.

On the west side of camp, there is a "garden cottage" consisting of three rooms.  This building has an entrance to each room, a patio at one end and a toilet and sink in a closet.  Cots will sleep 10-14.

Next to the cottage, there is a dormitory with two sides and a communal bathroom with four toilets, four showers and two sinks.  Up to 12 cots fit in each end.  There were at one point bunk beds on the right side.  Check cot placement before assigning bedspace -- it could range from 24 to 36.

The bathhouse north of the swimming pool is no longer operational.  The pool requires additional information at this time.

Down a road north from the feast hall, there is Lake Pogo (listed on maps as Lake Ta-Lo-Ha), stocked with bream and catfish.  There is a large dock out onto the lake.  A large pavilion with a bricked-in grill at this location offers power and water.

There is a road to the east from this location leading to a large primitive campground with one outhouse.  That's right, an outhouse.

The site is currently unavailable during the winter months due to a heat issue with the main hall.  Alcohol and tobacco products are prohibited.

I kid you not, the Google Earth car drove into site.  Here's a link.  The old dark brown feast hall has been torn down.
